InterConnection: “Weaving a Web of Support Around the Globe”
InterConnection's Virtual Volunteer Program provides non-profit organizations in developing countries with professional quality websites, Internet hosting, email service and training at no or low cost. It matches web-savvy volunteers from all over the world with non-profits who need websites. Volunteers work with the organizations, via the Internet, to create custom-made, professional websites. Since all work is done online, it provides an avenue for global-minded people to help developing communities without leaving home. The customized websites bring to the non-profits the many benefits of a web presence. InterConnection thus provides both a rewarding experience for volunteers and a service that is in great demand by non-profits. The Seattle-based InterConnection was founded in February 1999 with the mission to enhance the visibility of non-profits in developing countries. It has grown to include a pool of over 100 Virtual Volunteers, and has so far helped over 100 non-profits in 40 countries.
